Forge(live) run-picker — for idiots
Class:
guide(beginner) · the zero-knowledge walkthrough. What it IS: dwarves-embed-run-picker-design.md; how to use it: dwarves-embed-run-picker-guide.md.
The problem, in one picture
The Forge (live) tab shows you a CI run: the little boxes-and-arrows picture of a build (compile → test → package …), coloured green/red as it goes.
Before, it only ever showed you the newest run. If you wanted to look at the one from five minutes ago — the one that went red — you couldn't, not from the window. You had to restart the app with a magic DWARVES_RUN_ID=… setting. Annoying.
The fix: a dropdown
Now there's a little dropdown at the top of the tab, like a menu:
● newest ← keep following the latest run (the old behaviour)
r-2 · demo-ci · failed
r-1 · demo-ci · passed
Click a run, and the picture switches to that run. Click ● newest again to go back to auto-following the latest. That's the whole feature.
How it works, plainly
The forge already keeps a list of recent runs (it always did — that's how the tab found "the newest" one). We just show that list in the dropdown instead of silently grabbing the first item. Pick a name from the list → the tab asks the forge "show me that one" and draws it.
So: no new machinery. Same list, same "draw a run" code — we just let you choose the run instead of choosing it for you.
If the forge is off
Dropdown is empty, the tab says "forge unavailable", nothing crashes. Turn the forge on, hit ⟳ Refresh, and the list fills in.
