This file exists so git can carry the directory above it, and the directory above it
is the appliance's /data mount point.
gunnar boots off removable media with no OS under it and GUNNAR_DATA_ROOT=/data, and
an initramfs carries only what was staged into it, so /data has to arrive from
somewhere. This tree is that somewhere. It is a build INPUT — which is why it lives
here and not under `.iso-out/`, the build OUTPUT directory, where it was declared
until 2026-08-05 and where a fresh clone could never find it.
It ships EMPTY on purpose. The tree it replaced held a `demo` namespace, a
`demo/hello` repository, a principal, and an ed25519 public key that a test had
minted minutes earlier — fixture state, written by
`dwarves/crates/dwarves/tests/gunnar_appliance_iso.rs`. A shipped appliance must
authorize nobody it was not deliberately given, so none of that belongs in the
product's initial state. The test still writes its fixture over this tree before it
builds; it just no longer supplies the only copy of a build input.
