The Sverige population graph — for dummies

What is it? Open facett-demo, click the Sverige tab. You're looking at the whole of Sweden — 11 million people and everything the State knows about them (addresses, companies, debts, loans, tax records, Kronofogden cases, police records, benefits, vehicles, property) — as three pretty, glowing graphs side by side.

The three pictures

  1. Full population (left) — every coloured dot is a person or one of their things, grouped into glowing clusters by their kommun. Cyan = people; other colours = the stuff attached to them.
  2. Debt → enforcement (middle) — the money story, read left to right: Person → OWES → Debt → ESCALATES_TO → KfmCase (Kronofogden). The red glowing column on the right is everyone whose debt went to enforcement.
  3. Per-kommun (right) — Sweden's actual shape: one glowing orb per kommun, the bigger the orb, the more people. Stockholm is the giant; Luleå is a speck.

The knobs

Why it's not faking it

The data comes from knut-popsim, the one real generator the knut demos use to load FalkorDB/Iceberg — the same model, just run in the browser with no database. Same seed → same graph every time.

Where does the picture come from?

Every dot is drawn by facett's own render kernel (the same one that draws the maps), with a soft glow halo behind each node so they look like little suns. No GPU needed — it looks the same on your laptop and in the web demo.

Want to see it without the app?

cargo test -p facett-demo --test pop_graph_blob -- --nocapture renders each view to a PNG in your temp dir (/tmp/facett-demo/pop_full_bylabel.png, pop_debt_bylabel.png, pop_kommun_bylabel.png, pop_full_debtheat.png) — open them and look.
