Manual pane guide
The Manual pane is a single component that renders the embedded documentation in either of two variants. This guide explains how it behaves so you always know what you are looking at.
The variant toggle
At the top of the pane is a small toggle:
- Typeset (SVG) — renders the compiled-in vector pages through the facett-docview engine (resvg / usvg / tiny-skia, pure Rust). This is the default variant.
- Markdown — renders the compiled-in Markdown sources through the shared facett-markdown renderer, exactly like the Preview lane.
The toggle only appears when a typeset book is present. A pane built from Markdown files alone stays in the Markdown variant and behaves like the classic Manual pane.
Search
Both variants are searchable:
- Typeset search runs over each page's text layer and jumps between hits.
- Markdown search filters the sidebar and, in continuous mode, narrows the flow.
Mounting
The pane is a facett Facet, so a host mounts it like any other pane. Because the content is embedded, the pane works both as a standalone Manual tab and when its typeset variant drives the docview engine underneath.
